Now is the Time to Double Down

Elections in America have become about what must be prevented, who must be stopped, what forces must be opposed. Elections in America have become reactionary.

Now, the election has been decided. And no matter who you wanted to win, or who you wanted to lose, we must decide what we will do. We must choose our own direction, and commit to our own civic mission.

This is – it must be – a time to build. And we want to build a better politics, a better future, with you.

The Center for Christianity and Public Life's mission has never been about an electoral outcome or partisan advantage, but about the character of the nation which is inextricably tied to the character of Christianity in this country. I believe our mission is more vital now than ever before.

Politics is not going anywhere. We cannot “wait out” this political moment. There is no quick fix to our political problems, or the harmful ways in which politics is affecting our communities, our churches and our families. At the Center for Christianity and Public Life, we have a vision for change grounded in faithful investment over time. We are in it, for the long-haul, with you.

The beauty and weakness of our democracy is that it just can’t get around the kind of people we are. The good news is that Christianity has tremendous resources to offer our democracy and politics that can change lives and shape culture for the good. We see it in our work every day. We will need these resources in the days ahead.

Now is the time to double down on our efforts.

Will you consider joining us as a financial partner today?

We are eager and ready to grow our team, provide new resources, and serve more civic leaders. With a growing community of financial supporters and partners, we will spur new possibilities and new hope for the future.

We need to turn the page on this reactionary moment, and stop allowing others to tell our story for us. Partner with us today, and take a proactive step toward building a healthier politics that benefits from positive Christian contributions.

Michael Wear is the President & CEO of the Center for Christianity and Public Life.
